Donald joined AAFC, and the federal public service, in 2008 and has since worked in various areas such as international trade policy, sectoral policy and sectoral development. Donald currently holds the position of Director General, Sector Development and Analysis. In this capacity he assists the agriculture and agri-Food sector in taking advantage of economic opportunities, both domestically and internationally. As such, Donald engages with a wide range of stakeholders and plays a lead role in providing sector advice for the development of policies, programs and regulations impacting the agriculture and agri-food sector. Also, he strategically supports the advancement of value-added and innovative activities in the agriculture sector, with a specific focus on the food processing sector. His current responsibilities include those as Chair of the Agricultural Market Information System for 2024-25, an initiative of G20 countries.

Donald comes from a farming background and holds a bachelor degree in agronomy as well as a master degree (molecular biology) both from Laval University.
